The Dominguez Dons will take on the Compton Tarbabes at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Compton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Dominguez, who comes in off a win.
While Dominguez's win against Centennial wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dons narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Apaches 10-9. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Dons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Jesus Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Nathen Acosta was incredible, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Juilian Laguna, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Dominguez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Compton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Long Beach Poly.
Compton also got a good showing from Max Martinez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those zero earned runs gave Martinez a new career-low.
On the hitting side, Andrew Ruiz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Max Mosqueda was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Dominguez's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-17. As for Compton, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dominguez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Compton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dominguez came up short against Compton when the teams last played back in April, falling 7-2. Will the Dons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
