Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Azusa). Everything went their way against the Sierra Vista Dons on Thursday as they made off with a 13-4 win. The Aztecs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024.
Aidan Sanchez made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Azusa got a massive performance out of Anthony Quezada, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Matt Huizar, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
