Baseball Recap: John Milledge Academy Drops Season-High Score on Thomas Jefferson Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask John Milledge Academy). They blew past the Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars 14-2 on Friday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Remington Weaver made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other pitching news, Cohen Brooks looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Weaver wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Asa Wall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Wall a new career-high. Bradyn Harrisson was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

John Milledge Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thomas Jefferson Academy only managed two hits.

John Milledge Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Thomas Jefferson Academy, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John Milledge Academy will face off against Brentwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Thomas Jefferson Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Vidalia Heritage Academy at 12:00 p.m. The Jaguars are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
