The Mendota Aztecs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Avenal 86-11 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Mendota who now have seven in a row.
It was another big night for Bethany Oliva, who scored 23 points. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Natalie Membreno was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Mendota has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Avenal, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-12.
Mendota will take on Firebaugh at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Firebaugh is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Avenal, they will head out on the road to face off against Coalinga at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Coalinga presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avenal in California (Coalinga is ranked 415th, while Avenal is ranked 1193rd).
