Elm Creek is 8-2 against Amherst since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Elm Creek is ranked 68th, while Amherst is ranked 91st).
Elm Creek put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] 64-32 on the road.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Amherst beat Pleasanton 36-32 on Thursday.
Elm Creek's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Amherst, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
Elm Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Amherst in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 44-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elm Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
