Mater Dei (Santa Ana) made its case for No. 1 in the MaxPreps Top 25 football rankings as the Monarchs capped an unbeaten season Saturday with a dominant 44-7 win over Serra (San Mateo) in the CIF Open Division state championship. Mater Dei (12-0) got three rushing touchdowns from USC-bound running back
Raleek Brown and the defense forced three turnovers, including a 21-yard pick-6 from
Malaki Te'o. The 37-point victory gave the Monarchs their third CIF Open Division state title since 2017 as they notched 10 wins over top 100 teams.
No. 2 Westlake (Austin) also made a statement in the UIL Texas 6A Division 2 semifinals with a one-sided 45-14 win over former No. 7 Katy. Clemson-bound quarterback
Cade Klubnik threw for over 300 yards and five touchdowns as the Chaparrals won their 39th consecutive game. Todd Dodge, who will retire after the season, is going for his seventh state title and third straight with Westlake as they take on Guyer (Denton) on Dec. 18.
No. 3 Collins Hill (Suwanee) won its first state title with a 24-8 win over Milton in the Georgia AAAAAAA championship. Five-star
Travis Hunter had 10 receptions for over 150 yards and a score while forcing a fumble on defense. The Eagles finished 15-0, winning each game by at least 15 points.
Duncanville made the biggest jump in this week's MaxPreps Top 25, moving up 12 spots to No. 8 after the Panthers' 35-9 win over Southlake Carroll (Southlake) in the UIL 6A Division 1 semifinals. Four-star edge rusher

North Shore was one of three new teams to join the rankings after beating Lake Travis (Austin) 49-21. The Mustangs look for their third 6A Division 1 state title in four years and fifth all-time.
Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) beat Berkeley Prep (Tampa) 21-0 to win the Florida 3A state title and finished the playoffs outscoring the opposition 152-3. It was the Lions fourth state title in five years and they jump into the rankings at No. 23.
