McGuffey has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Charleroi Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully McGuffey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday.
While it was all tied up 24-24 at halftime, McGuffey was not quite the Falcons' equal in the second half on Thursday. McGuffey fell 44-36 to the Falcons.
The losing side was boosted by Madison Gaso, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Faith Ealy, who scored three points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Charleroi suffered a rough 68-45 defeat at the hands of the Falcons on Monday.
Despite their defeat, Charleroi saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bella Carroto, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Ella Sypolt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
McGuffey has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season. Charleroi's record now sits at 9-11.
McGuffey didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Cougars in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 65-60 victory. Will McGuffey repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
