Nordhoff got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Desi Canfield out in front who rushed for 127 yards and one score while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Canfield has posted since back in September of 2024. Nordhoff also got a significant boost from Jaxson Kirk, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 96 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Nordhoff was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only rushed for 115 rushing yards.
Nordhoff didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jonathan Verduzco.
Hoover lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Angelo Bailey, who picked up 113 receiving yards and one TD. Aeden Aceves also helped out as he racked up 100 receiving yards.
The win got Nordhoff back to even at 1-1. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
