The matchup between the South River Rams and the Spotswood Chargers on Saturday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. South River had to suffer through a rough 80-53 loss at the hands of the Chargers.
When it comes to explaining why South River lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alex Grospe. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Nate Grospe, who scored 11 points.
South River's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Spotswood, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season.
South River will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Kennedy Memorial has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 18. As for Spotswood, they will head out on the road to square off against the Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Wardlaw Hartridge: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while the Chargers have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
