Grace Christian Academy has gone a perfect 10-0 against Crisp Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will welcome the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Grace Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Grace Christian Academy's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Valwood hitters got past them. The Cougars came up short against the Valiants on Thursday, falling 11-4. The Cougars just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Grace Christian Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Elkins, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Daniel Johnson was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Crisp Academy can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They never let Byne Christian get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Wildcats not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 13th (when they won 17-7).
Wyatt Youngblood made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Crisp Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-10 otherwise. Youngblood was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Reed, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Crisp Academy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 2-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Wilk Stevens, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Crisp Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Grace Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Grace Christian Academy took their victory against Crisp Academy in their previous meeting on April 8th by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
