Temecula Prep and the Mustangs are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Temecula Prep Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Temecula Prep has five straight wins, the Mustangs have five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Temecula Prep has not done well against the Knights recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Temecula Prep secured a 49-45 W over the Knights.
Temecula Prep found their leader in underclassman Zylah Coleman, who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Hassankhail, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School was beaten by the Conquerors 67-14 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1338th, while the Conquerors are ranked 547th).
Temecula Prep pushed their record up to 13-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
Everything came up roses for Temecula Prep against the Mustangs when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 62-9 victory. With Temecula Prep ahead 29-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
