If the Apollo Ridge Vikings were feeling good off their 48-14 takedown of the Valley Vikings on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Apollo Ridge took a serious blow against St. Joseph on Thursday, falling 51-8. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Apollo Ridge has scored all season.
Julie Spinelli was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals for St. Joseph. The matchup was Spinelli's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Gia Richter was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Apollo Ridge has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for St. Joseph, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apollo Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Riverview at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th. Hopefully Riverview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday. As for St. Joseph, they will head out on the road to face off against Aquinas Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Aquinas Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
