The Benicia Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the College Park Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Benicia is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses.
Benicia suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Monday. Their rough 42-18 loss to Campolindo might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Benicia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 922nd, while Campolindo is ranked 386th).
Meanwhile, College Park's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 51-37 fall against Clayton Valley Charter. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for College Park in their matchups with Clayton Valley Charter: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, College Park saw an underclassman step up: Taylor Ochoa scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That was a full 48.6% of College Park's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Benicia has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. As for College Park, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Benicia came up short against College Park when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 60-47. Can Benicia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
