If the Wapakoneta Redskins were riding high off their 56-28 takedown of the Kenton Wildcats on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between Wapakoneta and St. Henry wasn't particularly close, with Wapakoneta falling 57-40. While losing is never fun, Wapakoneta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while St. Henry is ranked 124th).
St. Henry's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Bowers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Bowers has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Link, who scored nine points along with five assists and four steals.
Wapakoneta now has a losing record at 7-8. As for St. Henry, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wapakoneta will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lima Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for St. Henry, they will take on Fort Recovery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Fort Recovery: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while St. Henry has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
