Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Hoover's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Hoover's tournament run continued when they took on Bonita Vista on Friday. The Hoover Cardinals came out on top against the Bonita Vista Barons by a score of 61-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Hoover got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jewel Parker out in front who posted 19 points. The matchup was Parker's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Aniya Felder was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Several Barons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophia Ambriz, who had 17 points along with eight steals and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Gonzalez, who put up ten points and seven steals.

Hoover has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Bonita Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Hoover won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mira Mesa at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mira Mesa will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Hoover surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bonita Vista, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Brawley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
