Basketball Game Preview: Cochranton Cardinals vs. Sharon Tigers

The Cochranton Cardinals just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Sharon Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cochranton is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Cochranton will head into Monday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 44) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Saegertown 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted since December 10, 2024.

Cochranton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marley Rodax, who posted nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Rodax has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played. Alaina Shorts was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Cochranton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-34, which was the final score in Sharon's tilt against Slippery Rock on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Rockets are ranked 242nd).

Cochranton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Sharon, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
