At
Waimea (Hawaii), their size might be small but their strength is so amazing, it's almost unreal.
The mascot name for this school on the island of Hawai'i is the Menehunes and it's a name of mythical proportion.

According to the Hawaiian Encyclopedia, the Menehune (or Menehunes) were an ancient race of very small, but very skilled, beings with supernatural strength. Other sites compare them to dwarves. They were thought to live in the forests and hidden valleys of the Hawaiian islands.
The site goes on to say that Menehune (around 500,000 of them) were builders and did all their work at night, but if they didn't finish building by daybreak, they simply abandoned the project. There are other explanations connecting mythology with stories of early western settlers wondering how some structures were built.
So going on some of the characteristics, it would seem that Waimea High's sports teams are not a tall bunch - but they're still very powerful. And the entire sports schedule should only feature night games. Furthermore, they should serve mai'a (bananas) before games and eat fish afterwards.
Hawaii is a hotbed of unique mascot names, and the Menehunes is just one of them. It might just be the best of them all, too.
