The Canton Warriors lost against the Wellsboro Hornets back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Canton fell 35-28 to Wellsboro. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Canton has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Canton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kendall Kitchen. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with six steals. That was a full 57.1% of Canton's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Daveian Crowley was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Canton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Canton's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-8. As for Wellsboro, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton will take on Williamson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Williamson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Wednesday. As for Wellsboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Troy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
