Miller County has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mitchell County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Miller County Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mitchell County Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Miller County will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Miller County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Terrell County get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Friday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.
Dru Johnson made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Miller County let Thomas Cook and Creek Durden run wild. Cook scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Durden went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Cook has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Horn, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Miller County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mitchell County came up short against Randolph-Clay on Friday and fell 22-17.
Keyon Ross was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Quintion McCraw, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4.
Miller County's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Mitchell County, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Miller County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mitchell County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Miller County's way against Mitchell County in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as Miller County made off with a 19-9 victory. Does Miller County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mitchell County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
