The Dover Longhorns were the 49-47 winner over the Covington-Douglas Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Dover fell to Covington-Douglas 32-28. Dover has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Covington-Douglas' win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ford Smith, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Derrek Daugherty, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Dover's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Covington-Douglas, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dover and Okeene will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Covington-Douglas on the road again on Tuesday and play against Mulhall-Orlando at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
