Bronny James, a 2023 McDonald's All American and one of the most high-profile high school athletes in recent years, is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after suffering cardiac arrest during practice at the University of Southern California.
The son of future Hall of Famer LeBron James is an incoming freshman with the Trojans after starring at
Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.). Bronny is in stable condition after spending time in the intensive care unit, according to media reports.
"Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU," a family spokesperson statement said. "We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information.
"LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes."

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Monday and according to media reports James was unconscious when emergency personnel arrived.
As a senior, he averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals per contest across 27 games to help Sierra Canyon go 23-11 and reach the CIF Division I state semifinals. He earned invitations to the McDonald's All-American Game and Nike Hoop Summit.
The highly-coveted recruit chose USC over Ohio State and Oregon, in May.
