The Dunwoody Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Archer Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Archer will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Dunwoody extended their winning streak to eight on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand Arabia Mountain a 15-0 shutout. 15 seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Declan Gallagher looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Andrew Ainsworth was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Miles Thayer was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dunwoody always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Archer hadn't done well against Grayson recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Rams 10-1.
The team relied heavily on Apollo Bailey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mason Cummings, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Dunwoody pushed their record up to 27-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Archer, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 19-9.
Dunwoody skirted past Archer 1-0 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
