The Bishop Canevin Crusaders can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They managed a 61-57 win over Quaker Valley. Bishop Canevin's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop Canevin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jason Cross Jr, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jackson Maddix, who scored 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Quaker Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joey Coyle. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Coyle scored a full 38.6% of Quaker Valley's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dana Kromah, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Bishop Canevin's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Quaker Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Canevin and Nazareth Prep will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Nazareth Prep is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Quaker Valley, they will be playing at home against East Allegheny at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Allegheny will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 500th, while Quaker Valley is ranked 240th).
