The Western Christian Fighting Lancers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against Newport Christian by a score of 54-42. The victory was some much needed relief for Western Christian as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Western Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was CeCe Balderrama, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Balderrama is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Mills, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Western Christian's win ended a 12-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-19. As for Newport Christian, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-10.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing The Webb Schools the next time they take the court. Newport Christian will head out to face The Webb Schools at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Western Christian will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
