The Galeton Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Smethport Hubbers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 28 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Galeton and three for Smethport.
On Monday, Galeton ended up a good deal behind Otto-Eldred and lost 32-15.
Despite the loss, Galeton had strong showings from Lynlee Basile, who scored six points, and Addison Reigle, who scored six points. Reigle scored a full 40% of Galeton's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Smethport came up short against Oswayo Valley on Thursday and fell 42-34. While losing is never fun, Smethport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while Oswayo Valley is ranked 234th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Payton Neff, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Hungiville, who scored five points along with 15 rebounds and three blocks.
Galeton bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Smethport's record now sits at 1-6.
Galeton was dealt a bruising 50-23 defeat at the hands of Smethport in their previous meeting back in February. Thankfully for Galeton, Abby Lutz (who scored 20 points along with five blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
