Basketball Game Preview: Covington Trojans vs. North Vermillion Falcons

Covington has gone 9-1 against North Vermillion recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Covington Trojans will be playing at home against the North Vermillion Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Covington will head into Tuesday's game on the come-up: they were handed a 20-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Riverton Parke 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since December 10, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Covington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Max Waddell, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points and six boards. What's more, Waddell also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Urban Roarks, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when North Vermillion faced off against North Central on Saturday. North Vermillion strolled past North Central with points to spare, taking the game 62-47.

North Vermillion pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.8 points. As for Covington, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10.

Covington didn't have too much breathing room in their match against North Vermillion in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 62-58 victory.
