Basketball Game Preview: Biggs Wolverines vs. Maxwell Panthers

Biggs is 8-2 against Maxwell since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Biggs Wolverines will look to defend their home court against the Maxwell Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Biggs will be strutting in after a victory while Maxwell will be coming in after a loss.

Biggs will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Portola, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Biggs came out on top against Portola by a score of 53-42 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.

Biggs found their leader in sophomore Anna Carothers, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carothers has scored all season. Allie Little was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 rebounds.

Biggs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-11, which was the final score in Maxwell's tilt against Quincy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1271st, while the Trojans are ranked 499th).

Biggs is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Maxwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Biggs lost to Maxwell at home by a decisive 37-22 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Biggs, Emma Hendrix (who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
