The Fallston Cougars entered their tilt with the Rising Sun Tigers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Fallston came out on top against Rising Sun by a score of 46-35 on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Fallston, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fallston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddy Burns, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Bolesta Brooke, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and six blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Rising Sun lost, one person who can't be blamed is Allison Stoudt. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Stoudt is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jordan Lynch was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Rising Sun struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Fallston is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Rising Sun, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fallston will take on C. Milton Wright at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. C. Milton Wright will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Fallston is ranked 36th). As for Rising Sun, they will head out on the road to face off against North East at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North East will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
