Jayden Jenkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Silver Creek's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Silver Creek got a massive performance out of Nathan Nunez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Nunez has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Elias 'Bofo' Ochoa, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one run.
Silver Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Independence won against San Jose on Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The 76ers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 victory. With that win, the 76ers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Xavier Moreno made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Andrew Aberin was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Kayden Duong was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Independence now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Silver Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
Independence's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Silver Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. It's a different story for Independence, though, as they've only averaged .215. Will they be able to contain Silver Creek's hitters?
Everything went Silver Creek's way against Independence when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Silver Creek made off with an 18-2 win. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the 76ers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
