Spring Valley will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Colfax extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand Clear Lake a 16-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly 16 runs.

Laikyn Beyer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Colfax got a massive performance out of Lyric Nichols, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Nichols a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alleah Kunsman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Colfax was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .692. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley hadn't done well against Mondovi recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cardinals came out on top against the Buffaloes by a score of 12-8.
Elin Esanbock was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kate Cipriano, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Spring Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Colfax, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Spring Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Colfax has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .509. It's a different story for Spring Valley, though, as they've only averaged .359. Will they be able to contain Colfax's hitters?
