Basketball Recap: Purchase Line Skates Past Conemaugh Valley with Ease

Purchase Line was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Conemaugh Valley on Friday. The Purchase Line Red Dragons breezed by the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays to the tune of 58-30. That's more bragging rights for the Red Dragons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Purchase Line got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylee Mahaffey out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. Mahaffey's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Alorra Phillips was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to eight steals and six boards.

When it comes to explaining why Conemaugh Valley lost, don't look at Gwen Masser. Despite the final result, she posted nine points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Penelope Reininger, who had eight points and seven rebounds.

Purchase Line now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Conemaugh Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Purchase Line will welcome Conemaugh Township at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Conemaugh Valley, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Portage at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
