Video: Touchdowns Against Cancer Kicks Off!
See what the program is all about as pledges keep coming in.There is an endless number of rituals before football games. Jumping jacks. Passing lines. The coin toss.
This one was a little different. Back on Sept. 2, players from
Foothill (Palo Cedro, Calif.) entered the field and laid roses at the feet of cheerleader Ashley Adamietz, who was diagnosed with leukemia in August.

The color of the roses was picked to bring attention to Leukemia Awareness Month. Leukemia is a cancer of the white blood cells and bone marrow. The exact cause is unknown.
The gesture and her reaction made national news, as did her Twitter posts that expressed her surprise, love and gratitude.
"I don't know where I'd be without the support of my family, friends and most importantly, my school," she tweeted on Sept. 3. "I can't thank you enough to both teams for making my first game one to remember and making me cry tears of joy. I love Foothill High School."
Adamietz received even more love Friday from her classmates, as she was named homecoming queen. Foothill won the game 40-6, making it a nearly perfect evening.
