Basketball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Dietrich

Dietrich waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They walked away with a 66-55 win over the Carey Panthers. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 76-68 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2022.

Dietrich got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Perkins out in front who went 6 of 12 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and three steals. Perkins is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Torgerson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Dietrich smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Carey still got an impressive performance from Preston Wood, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 18 rebounds. That's the most boards Wood has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Will Parke, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Dietrich pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.6 points per game. As for Carey, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-3.

Dietrich wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-53 win against Hansen on the 10th. As for Carey, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-42 victory against Richfield on the 9th.
