McAdory has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hueytown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will look to defend their home field against the Golden Gophers at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
McAdory is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Gardendale just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Rockets, falling 15-9.
Josie Mahaffey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Karli Roberson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Hueytown didn't have quite enough to beat Corner on Tuesday and fell 7-6.
K Burch put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Madison Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jenna Melton, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
McAdory's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6-1. As for Hueytown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McAdory hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Hueytown struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McAdory skirted past Hueytown 5-4 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Golden Gophers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
