Basketball Recap: Moniteau Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Maddy Eury and Emily Matz

Moniteau scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 49-44 to the Keystone Panthers. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Moniteau's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emily Matz, who posted eight points along with nine boards and three steals, and Maddy Eury, who had 15 points. Matz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Thompson, who put up 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Moniteau and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Keystone, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Moniteau didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-39 win against Grove City on the 9th. Keystone has also already played their next game (against North Clarion), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
