Basketball Recap: Ray Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against San Manuel last Wednesday, Ray came back down to earth. The Ray Bearcats took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hayden Lobos on Tuesday. The Bearcats have struggled against the Lobos recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Ray still got an impressive performance from Chase Chester, who went 10 for 17 on his way to 25 points. The dominant performance gave Chester a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhett Young, who went 7 of 17 en route to 16 points.

Hayden's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from J.R Fong, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Fong continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mario Hong, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Ray's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-12. As for Hayden, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Ray Bearcats duke it out with the Superior Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ray has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 204 points over their last three games. As for Hayden, they will take on Baboquivari at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
