If the Hamlin Pied Pipers were feeling good off their 67-28 takedown of the Throckmorton Greyhounds on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hamlin fell to Roscoe 35-30. Hamlin lost against Roscoe in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 38-20 score last time.
Despite the loss, Hamlin saw an underclassman step up: Ian Gruben scored 12 points. Gruben continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Rivera, who scored 7 points.
Hamlin has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Roscoe, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Hamlin will head out on the road to face off against Knox City at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday. Knox City has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 371 points over their last five matchups. As for Roscoe, they will square off against New Deal at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
