The Champaign Central Maroons pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Morton by a score of 61-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (57), Champaign Central still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Champaign Central still got an impressive performance from Torion Rhone, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rhone set a new season high mark in rebounds with five. Another player making a difference was Aidyn Beck, who scored 12 points.
Champaign Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Morton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Champaign Central will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tolono Unity at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Tolono Unity's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Morton and Pekin will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pekin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Morton is ranked 12th).
