They snuck past Dos Pueblos with a 55-49 victory. Given Oxnard's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Dos Pueblos is ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oxnard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mikayla Oliver, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Oliver pulled down eight or more rebounds. Kayla Lumas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Oxnard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Dos Pueblos, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
Oxnard will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ventura at 7:00 p.m. Ventura will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Dos Pueblos, they will head out on the road to face off against Buena at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Buena focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Thursday.
