Northridge Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Monday, Northridge Academy took their match at home with ease, bagging a 62-5 victory over Fulton. With Northridge Academy ahead 35-1 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Northridge Academy had a senior duo take command as Estrella Alejo dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds and Divya Kishore scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for Kishore. Priscilla Perez was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences made easy work of East Valley on Monday and carried off a 51-31 win. The win was just what Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences needed coming off of a 75-15 loss in their prior match.
Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lara Ledesma, who scored 16 points, and Angelina Beshara, who scored 18 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Beshara has scored at least 25% of Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' points. Another player making a difference was Destiny Burnside, who scored nine points.
Northridge Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Northridge Academy strolled past Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences when the teams last played back in January by a score of 38-23. Will Northridge Academy repeat their success, or does Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
