The Skaneateles Lakers will head out on the road to face off against the Marcellus Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skaneateles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Skaneateles will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Union Springs, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Lakers blew past the Wolves 9-1 on Monday. The Lakers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23rd (when they won 11-2).
McKendell Sweeney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Skaneateles got a massive performance out of Hugh Carroll, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The Lakers are 6-1 when Carroll posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cody Crane, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Skaneateles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Marcellus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Bishop Ludden, falling 12-2.
Skaneateles has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Marcellus, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Skaneateles was able to grind out a solid victory over Marcellus when the teams last played back in April, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
