The Jefferson Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Terra Nova Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Jefferson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Jefferson came up short against Capuchino and fell 47-39. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson in their matchups with Capuchino: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite their defeat, Jefferson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jerzey Gallegos, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Gallegos hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Wang, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Terra Nova was not quite Westmoor's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Terra Nova took a 38-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westmoor.
Jefferson has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Terra Nova, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
Jefferson beat Terra Nova 45-33 when the teams last played on January 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jefferson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
