Oroville is 10-0 against Wheatland since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The pair will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Oroville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday.
Oroville scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They secured a 45-41 W over Upper Lake. The victory was just what Oroville needed coming off of a 53-25 loss in their prior game.
Ayianna Herrera and Leila Jackson were among the main playmakers for Oroville as the former scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Herrera scored 15 or more points.
Meanwhile, Wheatland had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Roseville with a 37-31 victory last Saturday.
Wheatland found their leader in underclassman Michaela Davis, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Wheatland's points. Reagan Clancy was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Oroville's record now sits at 3-9. Wheatland's record now sits at 3-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Oroville have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Wheatland, though, as they've been averaging only 34.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Oroville's way against Wheatland when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as Oroville made off with a 46-22 win. Does Oroville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wheatland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
