Baseball Recap: Madison Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Madison had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the South Lake Cavaliers as they made off with a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Wargo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eavan Olceski, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shawn Dennis, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Madison's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for South Lake, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-9.

Coming up, Madison will face off against Hamtramck at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Lake, they will challenge Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Abes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.25 runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
