The Covenant Day Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Providence Day Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
After a string of seven wins, Covenant Day's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 73-63 to Cannon. While losing is never fun, Covenant Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Cannon is ranked fifth).
Covenant Day's loss came about despite a quality game from Elijah Green, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Green has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Michael Marcus Jr., who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Providence Day posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. Everything went their way against Charlotte Christian as Providence Day made off with a 67-47 win. The win was familiar territory for Providence Day who now have four in a row.
Covenant Day's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Providence Day, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
Covenant Day came up short against Providence Day in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 65-56. Can Covenant Day avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
