The Webb Schools Gauls had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They put the hurt on Silver Valley with a sharp 47-24 win. The Webb Schools pushed the score to 45-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans cut but never quite recovered from.
Xajani Badkar continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 17 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Pristine Thomas, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and five assists.
Silver Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydney Trotter, who scored eight points along with two steals. Serwaah Sarpong was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Silver Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The Webb Schools has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Silver Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Webb Schools won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Avalon is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Silver Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on January 26th. Apple Valley Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
