Salinas is 2-8 against North Salinas since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Salinas Cowboys will head out on the road to square off against the North Salinas Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Salinas is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Salinas stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 63-37 margin over Pacific Grove. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Salinas has posted since November 21, 2023.
Salinas can attribute much of their success to Payton Edwards, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Edwards has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alice Uchida, who scored ten points.
North Salinas suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Hollister, falling 64-30. While losing is never fun, North Salinas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 812th, while Hollister is ranked 189th).
Salinas has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for North Salinas, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-4 record last season and are now at 3-12.
Salinas suffered a grim 54-30 defeat to North Salinas in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Salinas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
