Football Recap: Alamosa Piles Up the Points Against Salida

Alamosa won the last time they faced Salida and things went their way on Friday too. The Mean Moose took their matchup with ease, bagging a 50-13 victory over the Spartans. With the Mean Moose ahead 30-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Alamosa didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alex Vialpando and Nelson Arambula. Vialpando got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the defeat, Salida had strong showings from Ayden Wells, who picked up 64 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Matthew Edgington, who rushed for 44 yards.

Alamosa pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points over those games. As for Salida, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Coming up, Alamosa will square off against Pagosa Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mean Moose will need to watch out since the Pirates have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games. As for Salida, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gunnison at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
