Declo hasn't had much luck against Malad recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Hornets will challenge the Dragons at 11:00 a.m. Malad took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Declo, who comes in off a win.
Declo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Soda Springs on Friday as they made off with an 18-1 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Makendrie Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Kymbree Koyle was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. Amerie Ewell was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Declo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Soda Springs only posted an OBP of .200.
Meanwhile, Malad entered their matchup against Wendell on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dragons lost 11-2 to the Trojans. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Dragons, who until this game were averaging 3.61 runs allowed.
Malad saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Maroney, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Declo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Malad, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Declo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Malad struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Declo suffered a grim 14-8 defeat to Malad in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
