The Boyertown Bears had to start their season on the road  on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were dealt a  56-19 loss at the hands of Governor Mifflin. Boyertown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at  33-10.
 Despite the  loss, Boyertown saw an underclassman step up:  Tessa Wolfe  scored 6 points along with 12  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Madelyn Weaver, who  scored 13 points.
 Boyertown's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Governor Mifflin, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
 Boyertown will be playing in front of their home fans against Daniel Boone at 6:45  p.m.  on Wednesday. Governor Mifflin will have some time to savor their  win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Berks Catholic at 7:30  p.m.  on January 5, 2024.
